Fr. Reginald Alappatt took his doctorate in Theology from Kandy seminary, and joined as a member of faculty at Chethipuzha Seminary. He served also as study director at Mannanam and Varantharappilly. For about 37 years, he was doing pastoral work in parishes like, Mannanam, Inchakkunnu, Mariapuram, Ponganamkadu, Veloor Forane, Kundannur, Karimpa, Coimbatore, Kozhinjampara, etc. He was served as superior at Kadalundy, Kunnamkulam, Karimpa, Coimbatore and Erode. He was a popular retreat preacher. In all the parishes he served, with his characteristic sense of humour and open nature, he could accomplish a lot of developments, and in spite of such an active life, he kept his religious spirit. In 1997, he was called to eternal rest, and was buried at Shornur
