Fr. Johnson Xavier Panachickal was late to discern his vocation, and listened to God's call, after his father_s death. The first assignment he received as priest was to be the assistant vicar at Chalakudy. From there, he went as superior of Attapady and director of the Boy's Home, working there for the welfare of the tribal boys. Thereafter, he was sent as superior of Santhome Home, Chennai, and he saw that the place grew in every way, even with a school and parish. He was also involved in the formation of seminarians from different provinces while in Chennai. While involved in the activities of Credo 2018, the diocesan level cultural fiesta of Catechism students, at the newly constructed indoor stadium, he collapsed due to cardiac condition. He had an extraordinary charism, and maintained personal relationship with everyone he came across. So strong and exemplary was his faith, even in the midst of problems and crises. He had a special love for flowers and floral arrangements. In the words of Mar Pozholiparampil,.Fr Johnson has shown that one should continue to serve till one falls dead. He answered the Lord's call, while fully active in his work and ministry in 2018. |
